An award-winning metamorphosis from a 1930’s era cinder block dwelling to a unique, modern, and energy efficient cork clad family home.

The form and materials were chosen to compliment the agricultural and equestrian buildings that are still common throughout the town, reinterpreting and abstracting the historic for a minimal contemporary aesthetic that builds upon its context. Energy efficient and unique, corkboard cladding is coupled with long-lasting black corrugated metal.

Large floor mounted openings and carefully placed skylights penetrate the envelope to direct the view outside and bring ample natural light into the space, while balancing privacy and the connection to the pastoral landscape.
